Police have released a picture of a man they wish to talk to following an assault on January 31 this year in London.

The assault left a soldier needing surgery to his face after being attacked in the street in the early hours of the morning back in January.

The soldier was wearing mess uniform when he was attacked on Haymarket at the junction with Coventry Street, close to the Horses of Helios fountain it has been reported.

Following the attack, he suffered a fractured skull, cheek bone and eye sockets. He also had a broken nose following the incident.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: ‘Detectives have issued a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak with in connection with this incident. Can you name him?’ Anyone who knows the man should contact police.’
