There has been a major incident at HMP Wandsworth Prison which resulted with an inmate being stabbed, reportedly in the chest.

Scotland Yard have said that police were called at 3.10pm and police and LAS attended the scene. The victim is believed to be a 39-year-old man and was rushed to hospital due to his injuries sustained.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called by the LAS at 15:10hrs on Thursday, 27 June to HMP Prison Wandsworth following reports of an inmate having been attacked.

“Officers attended, along with London’s Air Ambulance.

“The victim, a 39-year-old man, was taken to hospital.

“He sustained superficial injuries to his head and a puncture wound to his chest. We await a full assessment of his condition.

“No arrests at this stage. Police remain at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing. “
