Several people have been injured after a roof collapsed at at London’s Piccadilly Theatre tonight.

The incident happened during a performance of Death of a Salesman. 1,000 people had to be quickly evacuated.

Screaming was heard from the circle when the partial ceiling collapse happened just before 8pm.

One person tweeted: “So I was at the theatre tonight to see Death of a Salesman at the Piccadilly Theatre when the ceiling fell in only 20 mins into the show. People running and screaming to get out. Truly terrifying.”

Met Police said the casualties suffered only minor injuries.

London Fire Brigade said three fire engines and three rescue units were at the venue and investigations were taking place.

Road closures have been put in place and Police advised motorists to use alternative routes.
