The Extinction Rebellion group is holding a fifth day of protests across London in what has become one of the largest of its kind in history.
More than 1,000 people have already been arrested this week according to the Metropolitan Police.
British billionaire Sir Christopher Hohn was yesterday revealed as a financial backer of Extinction Rebellion yesterday.
Metropolitan Police commissioner Cressida Dick has said that the protesters were “utterly irresponsible and completely unreasonable”.
Sir Christopher, who is worth £1.2 billion, made a personal donation of £50,000 to the environmental group.
Yesterday, James Brown, a Paralympian cyclist, filmed himself sitting on top of an plane. He was booked on to the flight to fly to Amsterdam.
In a live stream posted on Facebook, he said it was “scary” because he hated heights, felt cold and hoped they would get him down soon.
“Oh man I’m shaking,” he went on. “This is all about the climate and ecological crisis. We’re protesting at government inaction on climate and ecological breakdown. They declare climate emergency and do nothing about it.”
