A man who was assaulted in Plaistow Park last week (Thursday 30 May) has died it has been revealed.
Police say that they were were called at approximately 11:35hrs on Thursday, 30 May, to reports of a man assaulted in Plaistow Park, Newham.
The man has now sadly died on Sunday 2 June. Police officers and London Ambulance Service attended and the man, aged 61, was then taken to an east London hospital with a serious head injury.
The man’s next of kin have been informed but a formal identification has not taken place as yet. The man has been named as Steven Kennedy, 61, of Plaistow.
The investigation is now being led by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command Police state in a news release.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Considine, who leads the investigation, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the park at the time and who might have seen the incident or events leading up to it.
“Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could help us move forward with our investigation.”
