A 46 year old man is set to appear in court today following the viral video of the Grenfell Tower effigy burning.
Paul Bussetti, 46, is set to appear in Westminster Magistrates Court.
The video that was posted online shows a burning effigy of the Grenfell Tower. Paul Bussetti, who is from from South Norwood in south-east London, faces two counts of sending or causing to be sent grossly offensive material via a public communications network.
The video went viral last year in November and showed a cardboard model of Grenfell Tower being burnt at a bonfire party which resulted in national outrage.
Six men were arrested in connection with the video.
Prime Minister Theresa May condemned the “utterly unacceptable” video, while Metropolitan Police Commander Stuart Cundy, who is leading the investigation into the Grenfell disaster, said he was “frankly appalled by the callous nature” of the video.
We will update you on proceedings later this afternoon.
