A cyclist has been killed after colliding with a car in Peckham this morning (30 Jan).
Police were called by London Ambulance Service at 6.26am to reports of a car involved in a crash with a cyclist on Peckham Road, by the junction with Kelly Avenue, in Peckham.
The male cyclist had been in a collision with a VW Golf. Sadly, despite the best efforts of medical staff the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:55am.
Police have said that a man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing a roadside drug test.
The arrested man was taken to a South London hospital where he remains at this time. Enquiries are underway to notify the victim’s next of kin.
Road closures and cordons remain in place at the scene of the accident.
