A 16-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital after a substance reported by media as ‘acid’ was thrown onto him in South Norwood.

Met police and London Ambulance Service (LAS) were called to South Norwood High Street, at its junction with Portland Road, at 4.30pm yesterday afternoon (Monday, October 7) to reports of a fight.

Police have confirmed that the boy was found to have a “corrosive substance thrown at him”.

A Met police spokesperson continued: “He was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a South London hospital for treatment,” a spokesman for the force aded.

“His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”
