A 16 year old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after 17-year-old dragged under car and left seriously injured.

The incident happened in Poplar High Street, E14 on Monday evening (10 September).

Police were called to Poplar High Street junction with Bazely Street, E14 at 18:59hrs on Monday, 9 September following reports of a collision.

The police stated the following via their website: “Police and London Ambulance Service attended and found a car in collision with a male cyclist.

The cyclist, aged 17, was taken to hospital, initially in a critical condition. His injuries have now been assessed as life-changing.

The driver of the car, a maroon Ford Focus, involved in the collision fled the scene.”

Detective Sergeant Lauren Brady said: “This is being treated as a grievous bodily harm with intent investigation.

“We believe the victim was deliberately targeted and was dragged a significant distance underneath the vehicle.”
